Instituted 1 May 1939. (1939 1944 issue). Constructed of gilded bronze with multi coloured enamels, consisting of a vaulted Geneva Cross, the obverse with white enameled arms, bearing a central German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, itself executed in black enamels with details highlighted in gilt, the reverse with a barrel hinge and narrow banjo style pinback meeting a rounded
