France, Iii Republic. A Tonkin Expedition Commemorative Medal For The Army 1885 Auction WWI 15th Infantry Battalion Officer's(Mdaille commmorative de l'expdition du Tonkin). Instituted in 1885. In silver, engraver marked "DANIEL DUPUIS" on the obverse, cornucopia hallmarked on the reverse, measuring 30 mm in diameter, dark patina, contact marks and surface wear, original ribbon, near very fine. Footnote: The medal was instituted on the September 6, 1885, and awarded to the Army and Navy who served in the 1884 1885 campaign in north eastern Indochina (North Vietnam),
