The tiles themselves were made in Japan, influenced by European majolica designs, and shipped to Singapore where they became hugely popular in Peranakan homes. Their vibrant floral motifs, scrolling patterns, and glazed surfaces capture the eclectic blend of East and West that defined Peranakan decorative style.
