Painted Sideboard From Shanxi - 19th Century Serveware this Kantha quilt adds warmthThis Shanxi sideboard dates to the early 19th century and has its original painting. The front of the piece is decorated with traditional floral paintwork on a vibrant red background. It is from Northern China and would have been owned by relatively wealthy citizens who lived in the border areas of Gansu, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia & Shanxi. These cabinets were used for storage of clothes and bedding or grain although they were also used as altar
