This exquisite antique sideboard from Gansu province in Northern China was used for storing clothing and grain by the nomadic people of Gansu and the surrounding areas in the 19th century

This dramatic cabinet would have been used to store food and cooking utensils in a Japanese kitchen. The frame is is contructed from hinoki (cypress) & sugi (cryptomeria) woods.
