Indian Stick Box Storage Chest From Jaisalmer - 19thC Material - Kiri Wood Constructed from cedar or pineKnown as Stick boxes, these boxes were passed down through the family with each generation in the Thar desert area of West Rajasthan and were used as dowry chests. Wood is very scarce in the desert and the resourceful tribes people of this area made these boxes from sticks harvested from the Kair tree Capparis decidua. The sticks are then riveted together with hand wrought iron fittings to make a very sturdy box. 97 x 55 x 57 (wxdxh cms) UK Delivery
