Choba dansu were used by merchants in shops for storing ledgers, money, and seals. This style of tansu is from the Gifu region of Japan. The slatted horizontal sides and sliding doors are traditional to the Gifu region. This tansu is constructed with hinoki wood (cedar) with sugi (cryptomeria) door, side & top panels.
