Painted Window Shutter From Bikaner - 19th Century Chest shaped lid handleThese beautifully patinaed 19th century Indian window shutters hail from the town of Bikaner in Northern Rajasthan, India. These shutters are solid rosewood, suggesting they would have come from a very wealthy haveli. Painted using natural mineral colours these window shutters would have been used internally in a majestic Indian haveli (merchants house). Much of the paintwork has faded leaving only patches and a beautiful dark rosewood grain beneath
