The four shutters are arranged side by side, each with a geometric lattice design of vertical and horizontal bars, a pattern typical of late Qing domestic joinery. The surface has developed a muted, weathered patina through long use, highlighting the grain and character of the elm. Originally fitted to a traditional home in Shanxi
