Black Lacquer 7 Drawer Sideboard - 19th Century Style - Temple Jar These decorative Chinese screen doorsConsole Table with 7 drawers made from Elm Circa 19th Century. It is made in the Ming Style and comes from Shanxi Province. A very useful piece of furniture for a hallway or behind a sofa. These cabinets were used for storage & also as altar cabinets for family ancestor worship. Black lacquer was commonly used in Shanxi province and to this day it is a prominent coal mining province. The coal was mixed with lacquer to produce this deep black lacquer.
