Panton's connection to nature is evident in the Fun 11DM Pendant, where natural mother of pearls is hung on five rings to create delicate patterns on surrounding surfaces when the light is turned on. Panton created the Fun collection in 1964 when trying to develop a light that would cast a diffused light while making a statement in a colourful room. In his initial design, he utilised metal discs but
