War Memorial Tower, University of Pennslylvania Palermo it was a frustration toWar Memorial Tower (known today as just Memorial Tower) was built to honor alumni of the University of Pennsylvania who lost their lives in the Spanish American War. The 6 story tower features carved limestone ornaments and is the gateway to the Upper Quad on campus. The building was completed in 1901, and this vintage photograph was captured just a few years later in 1904, with a glass negative. The Old Town Print Gallery team has digitally restored
