Neoregelia 'Gusto' CHINA but we have found that

but we have found that it thrives here in Florida

the plant does not have the thick leaves of either parent

but typically aeranthos is found in the ‘southern cone’ countries of South America

After the plant bloomed for us  bloom for us it was obvious that it is not Hechtia argentia

Unfortunately

Neoregelia 'Gusto' CHINA but we have found thatA hybrid by Rafael de Faria of Rio is a beauty but of unreported parentage. A medium sized rosette of broad leaves (almost 3 inches) is about 10 inches high by 20 inches across. Very brightly colored; glossy magenta with a pink wash and light green spots and color breaks overall. The leaves have bright white, wide margins that blush pink. At anthesis the cup flushes red. Produces offsets before blooming. A choice plant.
